Reading Road Trip: Montana!
Hi everyone!
I am SO excited to be hosting Montana for the Reading Road Trip hosted by Britta at I Like These Books and Hafsah at IceyBooks. I haven’t ever actually been to Montana. I live in Washington, but I’m close to Montana! My mom has been there a few times. She’s told me a few things:
-She always gets sick when she’s there.
-People trust each other so much that they leave their engines running when they go shopping
-They love their bars.
Now…I haven’t witnessed those things first hand, so that’s all her opinion! I looked up some fun facts about Montana, too. Take a look!
- Montana is nicknamed the Treasure State
- Montana’s name comes from the Spanish word mountain.
- The largest snowflake ever observed was 38 cm wide was recorded in Montana
- It is illegal to have a sheep in the cab of your truck without a chaperone
- Creeks in Montana are often pronounced “crick.”
- Montana is home to seven Indian reservations.
- The world’s shortest river is located in Montana.
- No state has as many different species of mammals as Montana.
- Yellowstone National Park in southern Montana and northern Wyoming was the first national park in the nation.
- Montana has the largest grizzly bear population in the lower 48 states

Let me tell you…it was hard finding information about Montana! Every site had the same dang information! Do YOU live in Montana? Did I mess anything up? Or is there something awesome about the state that you want to let me know about? Let me know in the comments section below!
Make sure you check out the rest of the tour!
Wyoming also posted today. You can find her post here.

You got a great state for this tour! I’m not from there, but I’ve visited around Glacier National Park several times and have come to love the state. So much so that I’ve even been working on a story set there.
One more fun fact: the Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the US west of the Mississippi (and its a natural lake too). I don’t think I’ve seen a lake with clearer water than Lake McDonald (the largest lake in Glacier). I definitely recommend a visit.
