15 Day Blogger Challenge: Day 2
Welcome back to day 2 of the 15 Day Blogger Challenge hosted by April over at Good Books and Good Wine. Today the topic is What is Your Bedtime Reading Ritual?
My bedtime ritual is probably different (or maybe the same) than most, because I have a really hard time going to bed early. I don’t have Insomnia; I AM actually able to fall asleep. It’s more the fact that I fight it. I’m such a night person, and I never want to miss any of those vital hours. Lately, it’s become a bit more difficult because I have progressed into a morning person. I love getting up, eating breakfast, and watching some stupid Hart of Dixie on my DVR. At the same time, though, I still don’t want to fall asleep.
One of two things can happen before bed. I can get ready, brush my teeth and what not, make my bed, pick out a book (usually a hardcopy but sometimes my nook) and read in bed for about 35 minutes to an hour. Then there’s the nights that I decide I’m going to read on the couch before bed. This usually lasts about 2-4 hours….which usually results in me staying up wayyyy too late.
I have a few quirks when I’m reading at night. I have to have water beside me at all times. If there is no water beside me, I can’t concentrate on the book. I also have to have one of my cats on me or near me (Yes, I’m the crazy cat lady.) Finally, it has to be completely silent. I can’t read with noise, and I would rather go straight to bed than have to try and read in a loud room.
That’s pretty much my bedtime reading ritual. Nothing fancy. What about you? What’s your bedtime reading ritual? Sound off in the comments section! And make sure to stop back tomorrow to learn who my blogging BFFs are!

Hi crazy cat lady! I am the crazy dog lady haha. I, too can’t fall asleep/or read without my dogs curled up next to me. Fur babies make the most wonderful reading companions, don’t they?
And I am a big night owl as well as a morning bird. I still have yet to find a healthy balance lol.
Great ritual!
My Reading Ritual-Book Blogging Challenge: Day 2
I understand the kitty thing. I personally cant go to bed unless I know my pets are all set for bed until the next morning.
I wish I could stay up and be fully aware for at least an hour each night. I’d love that much uninterrupted reading time. Sometimes I do get it & it’s lovely. Last night I did. I am reading “In the After” and I am really loving it! I like that its apocalyptic and not dystopian.
I’ll be back manana to see who your Bloggy BFF’s are
Have a great day!
Scandalous Bedtime Reading Rituals
Around 10 PM or 11 PM, I give my dog his nightly pills. Then I go upstairs, brush my teeth, get into my pj’s, and get out my current book, usually hard covered. Sometimes I’ll read an ebook, but I prefer to touch my books! I read until 1 PM or 2 PM because I am on summer vacation until August…yep, I’m a teacher, so I have lots of time during the summer to read.
OMG I totally know how it feels! I feel like my night hours are too precious to spend on sleeping. Books are way more interesting hehe
xoxo
After I have brushed my teeth and done all the necessary nighttime rituals I grab a book that is on my vast to do list, or if I’m just re-reading a book (or sometimes articles)and grab a snack because I wouldn’t be able to concentrate either without either water or a snack then I dig into my reading….and after I usually wake up my sister to consult her on my theories or thoughts about the book until she gets tired of me and that’s about it
