book-and-heart-wallpapers_12406_1600x1200Welcome back to day 2 of the 15 Day Blogger Challenge hosted by April over at Good Books and Good Wine. Today the topic is What is Your Bedtime Reading Ritual?

My bedtime ritual is probably different (or maybe the same) than most, because I have a really hard time going to bed early. I don’t have Insomnia; I AM actually able to fall asleep. It’s more the fact that I fight it. I’m such a night person, and I never want to miss any of those vital hours. Lately, it’s become a bit more difficult because I have progressed into a morning person. I love getting up, eating breakfast, and watching some stupid Hart of Dixie on my DVR. At the same time, though, I still don’t want to fall asleep.

One of two things can happen before bed. I can get ready, brush my teeth and what not, make my bed, pick out a book (usually a hardcopy but sometimes my nook) and read in bed for about 35 minutes to an hour. Then there’s the nights that I decide I’m going to read on the couch before bed. This usually lasts about 2-4 hours….which usually results in me staying up wayyyy too late.

I have a few quirks when I’m reading at night. I have to have water beside me at all times. If there is no water beside me, I can’t concentrate on the book. I also have to have one of my cats on me or near me (Yes, I’m the crazy cat lady.) Finally, it has to be completely silent. I can’t read with noise, and I would rather go straight to bed than have to try and read in a loud room.

That’s pretty much my bedtime reading ritual. Nothing fancy. What about you? What’s your bedtime reading ritual? Sound off in the comments section! And make sure to stop back tomorrow to learn who my blogging BFFs are!
