15 Day Blogger Challenge: Day 1
I don’t normally participate in challenges, but the 15 Day Blogger Challenge over at Good Books and Good Wine caught my attention this time! If you want to participate in this challenge, April will have a sign up sheet over at Good Books and Good Wine. Here is the link to the first challenge.
Day 1: Make 15 book-related confessions.
1. I dog-ear my pages /= I can’t stand bookmarks.
2. If I’m reading a hardback, I always have to take the jacket off.
3. Before I became a blogger, I was massively against the concept of ARCs.
4. When reading a book, the feminist in me comes out and I’m quick to call male characters abusive.
5. I used to ONLY read adult romance books. Nora Roberts, Linda Howard, and Suzanne Brockmann were my best friends.
6.I’ve been to 2 Richelle Mead book signings and 1 Patricia Briggs signing. I ate cupcakes in line at the RM signing [=
7. Whenever I’m at Barnes & Noble, I take time to find other people books.
8. Twilight is what got me hooked to the YA genre
9. I skim books if they bug me. I never make myself suffer.
10. My bookshelf is very disorganized. The books are not arranged by size, color, title, or author. They’re all just sorta squeezed into spots.
11. My books aren’t treated the best. I’m pretty rough with them. They’ve been drenched with water from the bath, stepped on, thrown around in the car, and some unfortunate ones have met the ill fate of my cats hairballs.
12. My favorite guy NEVER wins in books. Likewise, everyone else seems to be rooting for the other guy. It’s a big disappointment with most books for me.
13. Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series is what hooked me to adult paranormal. Favorite. Series. Ever. (Including all of YA.)
14. I often feel really guilty about all the books I have to read. It’s literally almost resulted in tears before. I feel like I need to be a speed reader. No matter how much I try, though, it still takes me at least 3 days average to finish a book.
15. I have the hardest time lending out my books, selling, or donating them to the library. Even if I don’t like the book, I just want to keep it forever and ever. Fortunately, my mom makes me see sense since books are EVERYWHERE in the house!
That was a lot harder than I thought it would be! Now that you know my book-related confessions, what are yours? Let me know in the comments section! And make sure to come back tomorrow to learn about my bedtime reading ritual!

It’s surprising how many people were against ARCs before they started blogging (me included!) It’s interesting to see how blogging changes some things.
Great post!

It really does! Now I read them all the time with no thought about it.
I am right there with you on #1 - I just always forget to have one with me! Whoops!
I am guilty of not always treating my books with the utmost care. I do, however, have a favorites shelf which have the books I love best and which never get touched or opened, and then I have a “read” shelf where my more battered, tattered, and thoroughly loved books live.
Numbers 8 and 9 are totally me too. It always takes me 3-4 days to read a book. I get more done on the weekend. You know..I have to work so..no choice there! Great confessions!

Hi Nicole!
3. Oh really? That’s interesting. What was your reasoning?
4. YESSSSSSSSS. Things like sexism, manipulative and abusive male characters, victim and slut shaming can all ruin a book for me because I’m just so passionate about feminism and these things.
9. Sometimes I can skim, but other times I’m so worried I will miss something
13. OOh I should check this out. I’ve only ever read one book from Armstrong’s The Summoning series.
14. Oh no
*hugs* 2.5-3 days is about average for me too, if I’m not doing a readathon or something.
See you tomorrow for Day 2
#10!!
I also have a disorganized book shelf-no order, in complete chaos and I’m completely ok with it.
Oh my goodness, I am the exactly the same about getting rid of books. It is sooo hard to let them go, but like you, an outside force has helped me to see sense - mainly having to cart them around.
Yay romance!
Also, YAY for being into the guy who doesn’t win, as far as romances go.
My shelves are so disorganized right now too, but I kind of like it.
Number 14: YES. I am so glad I am not the only one who feels guilt.
Great list! I can relate to so many of these especially #2, #9 and #14. I have had panic attacks from all the books I have to read
lolz..You and are #11 Twins! #1 too. FINALLY a fellow dog ear-er!
My poor, poor books are so abused. They have smudge finger prints where you turn pages (orange from cheetohs..lol) the fur balls and my doggy chewed a lot of books on the spine as a pup!
Im embarrassed how bad they get so I rarely give them away. Out of shame. lolz.
I used to only read adult romances too. Then I read only mysteries and then only true crime and now it’s pretty much only YA but I will go back to one of my earlier genres sometimes. I hate to think of the day I move on from YA, but given my history, it will probably happen.
Great list Nichole, I’m not huge on bookmarks either as it’s always falling out but I don’t dog-ear my pages, I’m a bit anal retentive when it comes to the books condition LOL
I do take my dust jackets off my hardbacks when I’m reading as I don’t want it to get wrecked plus it’s annoying when your reading and it’s constantly slipping off.
Amen to number nine. I find myself doing that a lot if I’m not feeling a book. Glad I’m not alone!
