Hi everyone! I have this week’s Top Ten Tuesday for you all. This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and today’s topic is Top Ten OCD Bookish Habits. I haven’t done this topic, yet. It looks like so much fun and fits me perfectly! So, here goes!

1 Sometimes, I have to reread the same thing over and over and over again before I can move on. It can be a sentence, a page, a paragraph. I don’t do this all the time, and I am getting better at it, but it’s definitely one of my better OCD moments.

2 This one isn’t about me. It’s about my mom. I have to share it, though, because I find it so fascinating! When she reads on her e-reader, she has to bookmark every. single. page. I’ve tried to explain to her that she really doesn’t need to do that and that it’s taking up a lot of her reading time. It doesn’t matter. Without fail, every single page. Does anyone else do that?!

3 I’m going to consider this one an OCD blogging habit, but I’m super organized. If you participated in the Bash this year, then you probably have heard about my color coordinating skills. I will FREAK OUT if everything is not recorded properly. You don’t even understand. If something is not organized perfectly, then my anxiety kicks into high gear.

4 I’m also really crazy about lists and spreadsheets. You don’t even want to see the documents on my laptop.

5 I guess this truly isn’t OCD, but when I’m at a bookstore, I stalk people who are looking in the YA section. I can’t even help. I will literally scout them out for like 20 minutes before I approach them to ask if I can choose their book for them. You may think it’s creepy, but I’ve never had anyone tell me no before.

6 I can’t read hardcovers. I HATE holding them. Of course, I also really like owning them 😀

7 This one is an odd OCD moment. I own the Harry Potter coloring book and everything has to be PERFECT. I will text my cousin (the most informed Harry Potter fan out there) and ask her what is what and how it’s supposed to look. I will look at the examples in the back of the book. IT HAS TO LOOK REAL!

8 This one is probably fairly normal, but I get really weird when I read in the bath. I can’t lay back and read very well. I’m like on this high alert that my baby is about to drown and I need to be the mama bear and go on attack mode. So I have to lean clear out with my arms out over the tub. It’s a mess. It’s never a comfortable experience.

9 This one isn’t so much OCD (I know, I’m sort of changing the topic! I’m having fun with it, though!) but I never read the synopsis of a book. Hardly ever. If somebody asks me to do it, I get extremely overwhelmed and upset. I’d rather just jump right into it. That being said, I’ll be like 5 chapters into a book and then decide to go read the synopsis!

10 I’m super OCD about requested books from my library’s ebook website on a weekly basis. They allow you to request them to buy 2 books per week. My mom just got a library card a few months ago so now I’m able to request 4 a week. I FREAK OUT if I forget. I put a lot of research into what books I’m going to have them buy. This is a big deal for me!

  1. Great post. I have to research books daily and if I entered contests I have to check on them daily, usually first thing in the morning. When I got up to 2 hours of just checking contests I knew I had to stop. Now I worked my way down to about 20 minutes a day for contests I’ve already entered. When it says you can tweet daily – it drives me nuts knowing I can tweet daily. Almost like I HAVE TO tweet daily. Getting better at that too. In series I need at least 2 books back to back to start out. Even if I had the first book I’ve read by an author I still have to go back and try a second.

I would stalk blogs, FB post, and tweets to learn about the people or the posters before I would post anything.
