Cassandra Clare and Holly Black to Write Book Together

Cassandra Clare (author of The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices) and Holly Black (author of The Curse Workers series and The Spiderwick Chronicles) have teamed up together to write a new, fantasy middle grade series. The series will consist of five books. The first book, The Iron Trial  will release in 2014.

Do. Not. Be. Alarmed. This new series will not affect any of Cassandra Clare’s current projects. None of her work will be moved back. That means that all of Cassandra Clare’s books are still set to release on their current release dates.

What do you guys think about this? I, for one, am a little nervous. I loveeeee Cassandra Clare. I think that Holly Black is just ok. Love and ok mixed toghether? ehhh. I don’t know how that’s going to turn out. Plus, it’s going to be a middle grade book. I’m 21. I don’t really read middle grade books. What do you guys think?

That’s all for now, folks. See you next time.

White Cat Cover & Release Date

The cover of Holly Black’s new novel, White Cat, now officially has a cover. Take a look:

Pretty spesh, huh? Here’s the blurb as it appears on the back of the cover:

Cassel comes from a family of curse workers—people who have the power to change your emotions, your memories, your luck, by the slightest touch of their hands. And since curse work is illegal, they’re all criminals. Many become mobsters and con artists. But not Cassel. He hasn’t got magic, so he’s an outsider, the straight kid in a crooked family. You just have to ignore one small detail—he killed his best friend, Lila, three years ago.

Cassel has carefully built up a façade of normalcy, blending into the crowd. But his façade starts crumbling when he finds himself sleepwalking, propelled into the night by terrifying dreams about a white cat that wants to tell him something. He’s noticing other disturbing things, too, including the strange behavior of his two brothers. They are keeping secrets from him. As Cassel begins to suspect he’s part of a huge con game, he must unravel his past and his memories. To find out the truth, Cassel will have to out-con the con men.

Holly Black has created a gripping tale of mobsters and dark magic where a single touch can bring love—or death–and your dreams might be more real than your memories.

White Cat is scheduled for release on May 4, 2010.
