Carolyn Mackler Competition

Hey yaReaders,

We’ve got competitions coming out our ears at the moment. Thanks to the good people at Candlewick, this time I’ve got one signed copy of Carolyn Mackler’s Vegan, Virgin, Valentine (which is one of my personal fave’s):

and one signed copy of The Earth, MY Butt, And Other Big Round Things by the same author:

The first two people to email me at yareadscontest@gmail.com with the subject heading of the email indicating which book it is you would prefer, will find a signed Carolyn Mackler book coming their way. We’d also really appreciate it if you went over to the forum and listed your name in the Carolyn Mackler competition thread here

Unfortunately, this competition is open to US residents only. If you’re not from the US, fear not. We’ve got a whole stack of competitions and giveaways coming your way really soon.

To win you must finish this sentence:

“I can devour _________ faster/better/ than everyone else. It is something I am/am not proud of because …..”

To enter email your entry to yareadscontest@gmail.com using the subject heading “The Devouring”. Then, head on over and register on our forum and list your name in this thread

Competition is open till Monday, February 9, 2009.

More giveaways coming soon!

Are You An Artist? ALAN Wants You!

Taken straight from ALAN’s website:

“The Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award Committee is seeking artists interested in submitting designs for the seal that will be affixed to winning and honor titles selected each year beginning this spring. Artistic submissions will be accepted from ALAN and non-ALAN members alike.

Any artistic medium is welcome, and we encourage artists to make the seal unique to the award and sponsor. Per Walden’s request, winning titles must possess a positive approach to life, widespread teen appeal, and literary merit. More information on Walden, her work, and the award may be found on the ALAN website. Please be sure your design also includes reference to both ALAN and NCTE and approximates the size of the models below.

Designs will be accepted through April 15 and should be sent to Wendy Glenn, AEWA Committee Chair, at 29 Cisar Road, Willington, CT, 06279 or wendy [dot] glenn [at] uconn [dot] edu.”
