Jonathan Rhys Meyers Cast as Valentine in The Mortal Instruments Movie

In the latest Mortal Instruments movie news, Jonathan Rys Meyers has been cast as Valentine Morgenstern. Meyers has starred in Bend It Like Beckham, Vanity Fair, Match Point, August Rush, Mission Impossible III, From Paris with Love and The Tudors.

I am most familiar with Meyers from his role in August Rush. August Rush is by far one of my altime favorite movies, and I have been a fan of Meyers ever since. I am so excited to watch Meyers transform himself into Valentine Morgenstern. Great choice!

Stephen R. Hart Cast as Brother Jeremiah in The Mortal Instruments Movie

Stephen R. Hart has recently been added to the cast of The Mortal Instruments movie. He will be playing the role of Brother Jeremiah, one of the Silent Brothers.

Hart has starred in Are You Afraid of the Dark?, The Sean Cullen Show, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Silent Hill, Max Payne and Oz: The Great and Powerful.

So far, I’ve been kind of hesitant with the cast of TMI. There have been actors casted that I have highly approved of, and there have been actors casted that I highly disagreed with. I think that Stephen R. Hart is the best casting decision that the directors have made for the TMI movie. He looks exactly how I pictured Brother Jeremiah in my head. I’m not too familiar with his acting, but he looks as if he can and will do a brilliant job. I’m really excited to see him portray Brother Jeremiah on the big screen.

What do you guys think of Stephen R. Hart as Brother Jeremiah? Are you as excited as I am? Are you disappointed? Is he what you imagined when you were reading the book? Sound off in the comments section below!

Alec Cast in The Mortal Instruments Movie

Please welcome Kevin Zegers to The Mortal Instruments movie. Zegers has offically been cast as Alec Lightwood.

Kevin Zegers has starred in The X-Files, Goosebumps, The Magic School Bus, Air Bud, Treasure Island, Smallville, The Jane Austen Book Club and Gossip Girl.

What do you guys think about Kevin Zegers as Alec Lightwood? Yay or nay? There could be worse choices out there. I was really rooting for Ed Westwick (I wonder if he was maybe the original Alec before the schedule changed?), but I’m satisfied with another man from Gossip Girl.

Sound off in the comments, guys.

Luke and Madame Dorthea Cast in The Mortal Instruments Movie

With filming for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones happening in fifteen days, casting is finally starting to wrap up. In the meantime, please welcome Aidan Turner (Luke) and CCH Pounder (Madame Dorthea) to the cast.

Aidan Turner has starred in The Tudors, Being Human, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. He is not how I pictured Luke at all. Wayyyyy too young looking. I don’t know about anyone else, but I had a completely different image of Luke in my mind.

CCH Pounder has starred in Miami Vice, Quantum Leap, Home Improvement, The Cosby Show, The X-Files, ER, Strong Medicine, Girlfriends, Numb3rs, Justice League, The Shield, Orphan, Avatar, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Revenge and Warehouse 13. I am pretty excited to watch Pounder transform into Madame Dorthea. I know I’ve seen her around (obviously, since she’s been in a million tv shows), but I can only really place her from Revenge. What do you guys think about CCH Pounder?

Sound off in the comments, and let us know what you think about these casting choices!

That’s all for now, folks. See you next time!

Hodge Cast in The Mortal Instruments Movie

Cassandra Clare has announced that Jared Harris has been cast as Hodge in The Mortal Instruments movie.

Jared Harris has starred in Natural Born Killers, White Lies, Mr. Deeds, The Other Boleyn Girl, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Ocean’s Twelve, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Extraordinary Measures, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Fringe and Mad Men.

It’s a little shocking to me that I’m not more familiar with Jared Harris because he has been in SO many major films. He’s not really who I pictured as Hodge, but I’m not disappointed in the casting choice. I don’t really have an opinion, I guess.

What do you guys think about this casting decision? Sound off in the comments!

Magnus Bane and Jocelyn Fray Cast in The Mortal Instruments

Yesterday, Cassandra Clare announced two major casting roles for City of Bones. Meet Lena Headey, as Jocelyn Fray, and Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane.

Lena Headey has starred in The Jungle Book, Merlin, The Brothers Grimm, The Cave, Imagine Me & You, 300, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, White Collar and Game of Thrones.

Godfrey Gao is apparently some huge Asian supermodel. Quite frankly, he’s pretty good looking. Take a look below:

The Mortal Instruments: Original Jace/Alec Kissing Scene

In honor of Alec Lightwood being up for the YA Crush Tourney, Cassandra Clare has shared the original draft of the Jace/Alec kissing scene from City of Glass. Take a look below:

“Drop it, Jace,” Alec said in a warning tone.

Jace was having none of being warned. “Magnus says it’s because you’re hung up on me. Is that true?”

There was a moment of utter silence. Then Alec gave a despairing howl of horror and put his hands up to cover his face. “I am going to kill Magnus. Kill him dead.”

“Don’t. He cares about you. He really does. I believe that,” Jace said, managing to sound only a little bit awkward. “Look. I don’t want to push you into anything, but do you maybe want to —”

“Call Magnus? Look, that’s a dead end, I know you’re trying to be helpful, but —”

“—kiss me?” Jace finished.

Alec looked as if he were about to fall off his chair. “WHAT? What? What?”

“One what would do.” Jace did his best to look as if this were the sort of suggestion one made all the time. “I think it might help.”

Alec looked at him with something like horror. “You don’t mean that.”

“Why wouldn’t I mean it?”

“Because you’re the straightest person I know. Possibly the straightest person in the world.”

“Exactly,” Jace said, and leaned forward, and kissed Alec on the mouth.

The kiss lasted approximately four seconds before Alec pulled forcefully away, throwing his hands up as if to ward Jace off from coming at him again. He looked as if he were about to throw up. “By the Angel,” he said. “Don’t ever do that again.”

“Oh yeah?” Jace grinned, and almost meant it. “That bad?”

“Like kissing my brother,” said Alec, with a look of horror in his eyes.

“I thought you might feel that way.” Jace crossed his arms over his chest. “Also, I’m hoping we can just gloss over all the irony here in what you just said.”

“We can gloss over whatever you want to,” Alec said fervently. “Just don’t kiss me again.”

That’s all for now, folks. See you next time!
