Our Book of the Month is Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet, but Kiona and Nikki both LOVED it! You can find Kiona’s review of Pushing the Limits here. Take a look below at the synopsis and book trailer for Pushing the Limits!
“I won’t tell anyone, Echo. I promise.” Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. “You didn’t do that-did you? It was done to you?” No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.
“An edgy romance that pulls you in and never lets go. I was hooked!”-Gena Showalter, New York Times bestselling author of the Intertwined series
So wrong for each other…and yet so right.
No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible. Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
Hey there yaReaders, in the absence of an In My Mailbox post this week (no new books = no IMM) I thought I’d share a few exciting releases…
First is the cover for the companion novel to Anna & the French Kiss, which is Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.
“In this companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, two teens discover that true love may be closer than they think.
For budding costume designer Lola Nolan, the more outrageous the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins move back into the house next door.
When the family returns and Cricket—a gifted inventor and engineer—steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.”
Check out Stephanie’s blog post here, which includes a hint as to how Lola is connected to Anna.
Release date: September 29th 2011 (can’t wait!)
Next is the sequel to last year’s hugely popular release, Matched which is Crossed by Ally Condie.
“In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky — taken by the Society to his certain death — only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.
Cassia’s quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander — who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia’s heart — change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever”
Release Date: November 1st 2011
So excited for this one too!
Lastly, the first of three book trailers in the lead up to the release of Cassandra Clare’s City of Fallen Angels was unveiled this week. The first one is a recap of the series so far, check it out below, I would love to hear your thoughts.
Mum: Christina, are you looking at porn?
Me: What?! No, of course not!
Mum: Then why are there shirtless men on your screen?
Me: It’s just something for the blog
Mum: Ohhhhhh, riiiiiiiiiight, sure…
Me: IT IS!
Cassandra Clare, author of the Mortal Instruments series has been tweeting and twitpicing (I don’t think that’s a word) up a storm over the weekend as the book trailer for City of Fallen Angels went into production.
As you can tell from the conversation with my mum, there’s a lot of shirtless action happening. From what we can tell the trailer features Jace, Clary, Alec, Simon, Izzy, Maia, Magnus and a flashback to Sebastian.
To check out all the photos released so far click here.
What do you think of the casting? I like Clary, Alec and Maia, not 100% sold on the rest, might have to wait till I see the finished product.
No word yet on the trailer’s release but around March is most likely.
