Reading Party Updates

Hi yaReaders,

We just wanted to remind everyone that our reading party is being held next weekend, starting at 3pm on Friday afternoon (that is, Friday the 10th of July), where ever you are around the world. We realise that our members in Australia and New Zealand will be the first ones to join and that people will wander in at various intervals after that. If you’d like to join in the festivities early, and by that we mean if you live somewhere other than Australia/New Zealand and would like to join when they do, feel free. The party will continue non-stop through until Sunday the 12th at 3pm, where ever you are. That means that the 48 hour reading period will end for some members before others. A staff member will be online at all times during that period to monitor the games etc that we’re hosting on the forum. We’re still finalising prize details so we’re still working on some games and prize categories. At the moment, however, we can confirm that there will be prizes for:

  • The member who reads the most number of books in the 48 hour period.
  • The member who posts the most in the reading party forum. Obviously this category will appeal to those less serious or slower readers who just want to join in for the fun aspects of the party.
  • The member who correctly answers all the trivia questions (we’re still working on how to govern this)

Stay tuned for more games and contests you can enter during that period.

Penguin books have jumped on board with this one and are donating a bunch of books for us to giveaway as prizes. As soon as they become available, i’ll post them on here so you can see what you’re playing for.

Are you planning on organising a get together at your house for this event? If so, we’d like to hear about it. Leave a comment below and tell us what you’re planning for those 48 hours. Will you try and stay up all weekend, or do you think you’ll take naps? Are you planning on locking yourself away in your room for the weekend and reading yourself silly? Do you have any books that you’re planning to attack during the party? No matter how big or small, we want to hear about it!
