Picture Book Review: A Bad Kitty Christmas by Nick Bruel

“Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the city, not a creature was stirring… Except for BAD KITTY.”

A greedy Bad Kitty didn’t get all the presents she wanted for Christmas, but after she goes on a Christmas caper across town and through multiple alphabets, she makes a new friend, finds an old friend, and learns the true meaning of Christmas. Or not. Nick Bruel’s newest Bad Kitty audiobook is full of rhyming mayhem… and Christmas cheer.

You guys are probably going to start seeing a lot more picture book review lately. Mainly because, well, that’s what I’ve mostly been reading. Honestly, I really haven’t had time to read at all for myself lately. I’ve had a lot going on. I got to tell you all, though, this book was actually really good. Like….I mostly read it for myself, because I just really liked it that much.

Going into A Bad Kitty Christmas, I didn’t really know that it was a Night Before Christmas story. I really just wanted to stock up on my Christmas picture books and this one was at a Scholastic Book Fair. This was good! I mean….really good! It rhymed perfectly, the pictures were fantastic, the animals were adorable. It was just amazing!

Not only is this a really good Christmas book, but I would also encourage parents/guardians/family/whomever to read this to your littles for Thanksgiving. There is a big sense of family and being thankful for your family. I really loved that message and think that kids really need to hear that message and understand what it truly means. I loved how it was incorporated. It was perfect!

Another thing that I wasn’t expecting was the alphabet to be incorporated in this book. Seriously, you guys, I read picture books all the dang time. You would THINK that nothing would really shock me. I just got to say that I was super impressed with how well done this book was and the messages and learning opportunities that it incorporated into the story. It was so well done and so amazing. I honestly can’t wait to read it again!

This one is a definite must read with your littles!
