Can you tell us about your book, Out for Blood, in 15 words or less?
OUT FOR BLOOD is a YA vampire novel sequel to COUNT DRACULA’S TEENAGE DAUGHTER.
What was your favorite scene to write?
The scene in which Kula and vamp Gabryela are confronted at school by cheerleader vamp Jacquelyn and her two vamp female friends from a rival clan. It was fun to have them go at it have the vamp claws come out for school supremacy.
What was the hardest scene to edit out?
It was pretty tough to edit out a scene where Kula had to resort to her vampire instincts in responding to a threat. It would have been good to see her fangs come out and attack a mortal enemy. Alas, the scene had to go, but could come back later in the series.
How many books are going to be in this series?
I have six in mind, but there could well be more, as new ideas emerge on advancing the storyline and subplots.
What is one of your favorite quotes from Out for Blood?
“Seems like every hot blooded vamp and human has the hots for Little Miss Half Vamp.”
Did any music inspire you while writing Out for Blood?
Yes, the spooky theme song from the gothic soap opera series, Dark Shadows.
If you could cast anyone in this series who would you choose?
That’s an interesting question… Hmm… I think that Alexandra Chando of The Lying Game would make a great Kula, the teen half vamp daughter of Count Dracula and protagonist.
As would Britt Robertson (The Secret Circle), Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights), or Skyler Samuels (.The Nine Lives of Chloe King).
I could see Phoebe Tonkin (The Originals) or Shailene Woodley (Divergent) as Gabryela, the newbie vamp who befriends Kula.
Blair Redford (Switched at Birth) could be good as Sebastian, a newbie half vamp with a chip on his shoulder.
Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) would make a great Jacquelyn, the cheerleader vampire who despises Kula.
I could imagine Hunter King (Young and the Restless) playing Yvonne, the human teen with a crush on Kula’s mortal boyfriend, Eriq.
Avan Jogia (Twisted) or Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) would be great as Eriq or Ivan, the teen vamp protector of Kula.
Quinn Shephard (Hostages) is a good choice for the teen vamp protector, Amelia, and could also play Kula’s mortal friend, Paris.
Maddie Hasson (Twisted) or Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars) would be good in the role of Sky, Kula’s vamp friend.
I am sure there are many other talented young actors who could play the various roles well in the Transylvanica High series.
What is the best book you’ve read recently?
The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II by Denise Kiernan. Honorable mention would go to The Silent Wife by A. S.A. Harrison.
What is next up on your TBR pile?
Dolled up to Die by Lorena McCourtney.
Secrets from the Past by Barbara Taylor Bradford.
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah.
Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics by Charles Krauthammer.

Out For Blood (Transylvanica High #2) by R. Barri Flowers
Published November 3rd, 2013
Publisher: R. Barri Flowers
From R. Barri Flowers, the bestselling author of the young adult vampire novel, COUNT DRACULA’S TEENAGE DAUGHTER, comes the exciting book two in the Transylvanica High series, OUT FOR BLOOD.
Sixteen-year-old honor student Kula Lockhart is in her second year at Transylvanica High School in Harbor Heights, Michigan. It is one of several integrated pilot schools across the country where human and vampire students peacefully coexist.
Kula recently learned that she is the half human, half vampire daughter of Count Dracula. This has made her a target for those who hate her powerful Dad and vamps in general.
As she comes to terms with her heritage and newfound abilities, things begin to heat up between Kula and her mortal boyfriend, Eriq Pratt. She also has her vamp guardians Ivan and Amelia, as well as several human and vampire friends, to balance her evolving life and times.
When Kula suddenly finds herself being pursued by a new handsome half vamp at school, Sebastian LeBlanc, she is strangely drawn to him, even if her heart belongs to Eriq. Yet Kula can’t help but wonder if it is more than coincidence that Sebastian just happened to arrive in town at around the same time that a vampire or vampires began killing humans. Could Sebastian be behind these vicious attacks?
Another new vampire, Gabryela Roswell, befriends Kula, but has a hidden agenda.
In the meantime, Kula has competition from an attractive human girl, Yvonne Elwood, who has her eye on Eriq. She also has to deal with the gorgeous and mean-spirited cheerleader vamp, Jacquelyn Brossard, a member of the rival Doerzic clan.
As Kula grapples with these issues and the changes in her life, she tries to learn more about her mother, who died in childbirth, from the only person who can give her answers–her dad, Count Dracula.
Fans of popular teen vampire and paranormal fiction series such as Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and Vampire Academy will love OUT FOR BLOOD in this captivating series.
