Thanks! I’m so excited to join the team, and I can’t wait to jump right in. Let’s see, I’m currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology at Northern Arizona University, with the hopes of eventually earning my Master’s, and later working in crime scene investigation. But for now, I teach horseback riding at a youth summer camp in New York. Plus reading basically everything I can get my hands on!
What originally got you into reading YA?
For me, it wasn’t so much that I got into YA, but more it was just a natural progression from children’s literature. It kind of just got to the point where I was like…hmmm…I miiiight be too old to be reading A Series of Unfortunate Events now…time to move on up! Although I think that my first foray into stuff outside of contemporary was Twilight, and from there moved on to MUCH bigger and better things.
Who is your favorite YA couple?
Oh man, this is way too tough of a question! Right now, it’s gotta be Raffe and Penryn from Susan Ee’s post-apocalyptic Penryn & the End of Daysseries. Such an amazing couple that deserve way more attention than they’re getting. But then of course, let’s be real, Dimitri and Rose fromVampire Academy are an insanely close second.
Favorite YA movie adaptation? Please, oh please, don’t say Vampire Academy! Please!
I haven’t seen the VA movie yet! I mean, I’ve got to see it just because it’s Vampire Academy, buuut I’m a little wary after seeing some of the reviews. No, but my favorite movie adaption has to be Catching Fire. It just goes to show you that when you stick to the book, you’ll get one heck of an amazing movie!
What’s your favorite genre to read?
Out of YA, definitely apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic. Nothing better than watching characters struggle to survive in a destroyed world!
Least favorite?
Probably contemporary. I mean, some of my favorite books are contemporary, but as a whole I prefer my books to have a lot more action and a lot less high school.
Do you only read YA or do you branch out into other genres?
I pretty much stick with YA. Although I’m starting to discover more New Adult titles, which I’m enjoying a lot.
Favorite series of all time?
Oh my gosh, are you trying to kill me?! Ugghhh. Probably The Hunger Games or Vampire Academy. But then I have to give a special nod to A Series of Unfortunate Events as my childhood absolute favorite!
We are so excited to have you on YaReads! Welcome to the team!!!
Remember to check back tomorrow to see Emma’s very first review with us. We are so excited to have her!!!!!
