The Devouring - Simon Holt
Has anyone read this novel? I'm reading it now and i'm NOT enjoying it. I'm not even sure I want to finish it.

Haha.

And liked it.
It wasn't near as scary as i thought it would be.
But i did enjoy it.
There's gna be a sequel or w/e and i'll read it.

I just dont find the characters all that believable.
Its very rushed. I dont think the writing is all that brilliant either.

I believe its the authors first book so perhaps he'll get better over time.
Why don't you find the characters very believable?

I just can't picture them. he hasnt done a good enough job of making them seem real. They're just these things that exist on paper for me. Characters
need to jump off the page for me to really get into a book.
There is nothing unique or different about any of them. They could all be the same person, you know?

It's been quite awhile since i read it.
The jock guy isn't interesting.
But i thought Reggie herself was. (horror fanatic. something i could really relate to)
And the librarian guy was pretty cool.
Idk.
I really pictured this as a movie when i was reading it. I usually don't do that with books. Usually it's just my own little thing going on. But this
was an actual movie playing in my head.
Perhaps you just need to get farther in to the story. How far are you?

I got an unbound proof from work, but I haven't read it yet. My friend didn't like it though.

I wouldnt go so far as to say that its bad, because I have certainly read worse books than this. The blurb was so enticing, but I kind of feel that
maybe, the blurb is the best part....
