The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Have you read this book? And if so, what did you think of it? Personally I loved it, couldn't put it down. The characters were so life-like that you couldn't help but be attached to them

I read this!!! It was AMAZING. I loved it so much.
It was very sad though:(
I have been recommending this book to everyone over and over again thats how much I loved it.
I really liked that it was narrated by death.

Everyone should read it. :book: :waterski:

I loved The Book Thief! I even got a copy in Spanish for my mom to read because it was that good. The last 100 or so pages had me crying so bad though and that kiss... ugh, most heartbreaking moment in any book I've ever read!

I had to read this for school, and I loved it! I really became attached to almost all the characters, so the ending had me crying! Especially the kiss, like just_aiv said.

Yup, loved it too. I was bawling like a baby at the end.

I loved his style of writing. It was just so perfect and understandable at the same time.

I tried reading it a few years ago, and I just couldn't get through it. I'd like to try again now though...is it worth it?

Definitely worth it!!! It is a little slow to get into, but once you get the feel of the story and the characters it is so hard to put it down! If you tear up easily, make sure you have some tissue on hand for the last 100 or so pages. :)

I just read it recently, absolutely loved it! It was amazing, one of the best books I've ever read. I really liked that it was narrated by Death, such an interesting twist. I got really emotionally attached as well, haha. Couldn't stop crying by the end.

I've been trying to get people to read it, but not many of my friends read very much, and they all say it sounds stupid.

I've just got to see if I can get a copy somewhere. My town is terrible for finding books...

It's not an easy book to get into, because I love reading and I couldn't make it through. Hopefully I can do it the second try...

So I just finished reading it.
I loved it...but it is one of those books that makes you feel empty when you're finished.
It was almost a draining read. Like, I was dying inside for the characters and what they had to go through.
Great story though.

I really liked this, historical novels are just about the only genre that I don't approach, yet I was drawn to this one and with good reason. Definitely among the most intriguing books I've read.

Aaargh. I know nobody has posted in this thread for almost a year (eek) but I absolutely agree with this. I was exhausted after finishing this book - I cried for the last few hours and then slept like a baby, hahah. I loved the way it was written and I adored it being from Death's perspective. So clever! It is definitely a book that really impacted upon me emotionally.

I'm not sure actually - we don't really have reading lists as such, but I would love to teach it to older kids. I've moved down to Primary school and I really miss working with the older kids in English :(
