Character Discussion: Brittany
Talk about Brittany here:
Did you like her, find her annoying, love her?
Do you think Brittany really did feel the pressure at home to be perfect? Why do you think it took her so long to rebel against it?
What did you think when she forgave Alex so easily at the end of the novel? Do you think she forgave him too quickly?

I think it was about time that she went agianst her parents. Brittany is a very caring person and I think she just had enough. You can only be fake
and perfect for so long and I think she just did it for too long.
I dont think she forgave Alex too soon. I mean she loves him and she was able to seem him turn his life around and partly because of her. I would
think that was a big enough gesture in its self. You forgive the people you love.

I couldn't relate to Brittany with having the whole 'perfect' thing but I totally understood about her wanting to distance herself from most ppl. Not
telling everyone her problems, that was actually kinda appealing, cos in most teen novels the girls are always wailing to the whole world. I LOVED
how she was with Shelley tho. It was so affectionate and cute - I just loved it.

I don't think BRITTANY thought they were the golden couple. I think she uses that term cos that's what everyone ELSE thinks - they're the golden
couple in the eys of the rest of the high school I guess...

I could relate a little bit. My parents never wanted me to be perfect, but I was the "golden" child. I was the good one, the one that didnt get into
trouble and brought home great grades and was in all sorts of activities... Its alot of presure. I was always afriad to fail... so I guess in that
sense I understand Brittany, or at least the pressure she would have to go through...

putting on the act. |
I got the feeling that she was worried cos then everyone wud be pestering her bwt why she wasn't with colin. Like she says @ the start, that's what's
expected - the jock dating the head cheerleader or whatever, otherwise the solar system isn't in allignment. If they aren't together she can't handle
the pressure of everyone else's judgement. That's what I got anyway.

Yeah, that was basically her world - guess she didn't think it cud be different. Altho she does change when she breaks up with him. I was so happy
about that - Colin's such a prick.

I think she's a great role model for teen girls everywhere.
She's unconcerned with race relations, she doesn't judge based on people's past etc, and she tries to look for the good in everyone.
She's brave, strong, and kind.
I love her.

I liked her, she was so brave to defend who she loved. And the way she cared about her sister, admirable.
