Prague for a prestigious writing workshop, their
priorities diverge. Dessy, fragile from a recent
breakup, has come to mend her broken heart by
honing her craft. Veronica has just
dumped her
boyfriend and plans to blow off the workshop.
She’d rather master a different subject—boys.
Veronica gets right to work on her “man-wall”—
one paper cutout for every hot-dude she meets—
and embarks on her mission to cover a wall of
their dorm by summer’s end. At times, Dessy
thinks her friend might be a genius. At others,
Veronica seems more like an agent of chaos. As
if their love lives weren’t complicated enough, soon a homicidal suitemate is bent on killing
Veronica
and Dessy, and both girls are hiding secrets that could wreck their friendship.
Well, no one ever said breaking hearts was a simple craft....
Everlasting by Angie Frazier (Hardcover - June 1, 2010)

Sailing aboard her father's ship is all seventeen-year-old Camille Rowen has ever wanted. But as a lady
in 1855 San Francisco, her future is set: marry a man she doesn't love in order to preseve her social
standing. On her last voyage before the wedding, Camille learns the mother she has always believed dead
is in fact alive and in Australia. When their Sydney-bound ship goes down in a gale, and her father dies,
Camille sets out to find her mother and a map in her possession - a map believed to lead to a stone that
once belonged to the legendary civilization of the (cont'd)
(cont'd) immortals. The stone can do exactly what Camille wants most: bring someone back from the dead.
Unfortunately, her father's adversary is also on the hunt for the stone, and she must race him to it. The
only person Camille can depend on is Oscar - a handsome young sailor and her father's first mate - who is
in love with Camille and whom she is inexplicably drawn to despite his low social standing and her
pending wedding vows.
With an Australian card shark acting as their guide, Camille eludes murderous bushrangers, traverses
dangerous highlands, evades a curse placed on the stone, and unravels the mystery behind her mother's
disappearance sixteen years earlier. But when another death shakes her conviction to resurrect her
father, Camille must choose what - and who - matters most.
Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs (Hardcover - June 1, 2010)

Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it's not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody
Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you're a normal
teenage girl, but when you're half human, half mermaid, like Lily, there's no such thing as a simple
crush.
Lily's mermaid identity is a secret that can't get out, since she's not just any mermaid—she's a
Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she
finally realized why she didn't feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she's been living on land and
going to Seaview High School ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its
problems—like her obnoxious biker-boy neighbor, Quince Fletcher—but it has that one major perk: Brody.
The problem is, mermaids aren't really the casual dating type—the instant they "bond," it's for life.
When Lily's attempt to win Brody's love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for
a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily ever after
never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.
I Now Pronounce You Someone Else by Erin McCahan (Hardcover - June 1, 2010)

Here Comes the Bride -- If She Can Pass Chemistry.
Eighteen-year-old Bronwen Oliver has a secret: She's really Phoebe, the lost daughter of the loving
Lilywhite family. That's the only way to explain her image-obsessed mother; a kind but distant
stepfather; and a brother with a small personality complex. Bronwen knows she must have been switched at
birth, and she can't wait to get away from her "family" for good.
Then she meets Jared Sondervan. He's sweet, funny, everything she wants -- and he has the family Bronwen
has always wanted too. She falls head over heels in love, and when he
proposes marriage, she joyfully accepts. But is Jared truly what she needs? And if he's not, she has to
ask: What would Phoebe Lilywhite do?
Secret of the Satilfa by Ted Dunagan (Hardcover - June 1, 2010)

Ted Dunagan, named 2009 Georgia Author of the Year in the young adult category for his debut novel, A
Yellow Watermelon, continues the saga of two adventuresome boys in this sequel. Both books are set
squarely in the Southern literary tradition as they reveal the lives of young Ted and Poudlum, friends
despite the racial divide in rural Alabama in the late 1940s. In the new volume, Dunagan again
demonstrates his ability to weave a strong narrative with easygoing prose.
Peppered with vignettes of rural life, Secret of the Satilfa evokes a simpler time before Southern
society came to grips with racial segregation. Young Ted's questioning of why he and Poudlum attend
separate schools must go unanswered while the boys imagine a future without such barriers. In the fall of
1948, Ted and Poudlum have their post-Thanksgiving fishing trip to the Cypress Hole on Satilfa Creek
interrupted by unwelcome visitors fugitive bank robbers. They manage to escape and return to the Satilfa
to search along with seemingly half the locals for money rumored to have been hidden by the criminals.
However, Ted and Poudlum have a clue no one else possesses, which indirectly leads to their triumph.
Through their exposure to some memorable individuals, the boys grow in character and knowledge as the
story progresses.
The Girl Next Door by Selene Castrovilla (Hardcover - June 1, 2010)

A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley (Hardcover - June 8, 2010)

A summer of friendship, romance, and songs in major chords. . . .
CHARLIE DUSKIN loves music, and she knows she's good at it. But she only sings when she's alone, on the
moonlit porch or in the back room at Old Gus's Secondhand Record and CD Store. Charlie's mom and
grandmother have both died, and this summer she's visiting her grandpa in the country, surrounded by
ghosts and grieving family, and serving burgers to the local kids at the milk bar. She's got her iPod,
her guitar, and all her recording equipment, but she wants more: A friend. A dad who notices her. The
chance to show Dave Robbie that she's not entirely unspectacular.
ROSE BUTLER lives next door to Charlie's grandfather and spends her days watching cars pass on the
freeway and hanging out with her troublemaker boyfriend. She loves Luke but can't wait to leave their
small country town. And she's figured out a way: she's won a scholarship to a science school in the city,
and now she has to convince her parents to let her go. This is where Charlie comes in. Charlie, who lives
in the city, and whom Rose has ignored for years. Charlie, who just might be Rose's ticket out.
Told in alternating voices and filled with music, friendship, and romance, Charlie and Rose's "little
wanting song" is about the kind of longing that begins as a heavy ache but ultimately makes us feel
hopeful and wonderfully alive.
Crash Test Love by Ted Michael (Paperback - June 8, 2010)

The last thing Henry Arlington wants is a girlfriend. He's just very, very good with girls—reading their
body language, knowing what they want to hear, and more importantly: getting them into the backseat of
his car. But all that changes when he meets Garrett Lennox at one of the many Sweet Sixteen parties he
crashes.
Garrett thinks she's done with guys. She was dumped by her ex when she moved from Chicago to Long Island,
and now she realizes that she needs to find out who she is by herself, instead of with a boyfriend. What
she really needs is some good friends.
Fortunately for Garrett, the J Squad—the "it" girls of East Shore High School—want her in their clique.
All she has to do is pass one little test: get East Shore god Henry Arlington to take her to one of the
biggest Sweet Sixteens of the year, then dump him in front of everyone.
Garrett has promised herself not to fall for another guy, so playing with Henry's heart shouldn't be
hard. Right?
And Henry doesn't fall for girls, so when he and Garrett start to click, it doesn't matter. Does it?
As William Shakespeare once said, "Love is blind," or in this case, the lovers may be, as Henry and
Garrett fall in love—and into the trap that awaits them. Because neither of them can even begin to see
what the girls of Henry Arlington's past have in store.
This hilarious, sharp, and surprisingly thoughtful novel is the teen Wedding Crashers, filled with love,
hope, laughs, and surprising insights about the terrifying process of falling in love.
Deception (Haunting Emma) by Lee Nichols (Hardcover - June 8, 2010)

When Emma Vaile's parents leave on mysterious business trip, it gives her the perfect excuse to be a
rebellious teen. Throw some parties, get a tattoo (or maybe just a piercing), and enjoy the first few
weeks of her junior year. Then her best friend stops talking to her, the cops crash her party, and Emma
finds herself in the hands of a new guardian—her college-age "knight in J.Crew armor," Bennett Stern—and
on a plane to his museum-like mansion in New England.
After enrolling at Thatcher Academy, Emma settles in by making friends with the popular legacy crowd. But
she can't shake the strange visions that are haunting her. She has memories of Thatcher she can't
explain, as if she's returning home to a place she's never been. Emma doesn't trust anyone anymore—except
maybe Bennett. But he's about to reveal a ghostly secret to Emma. One that will explain the visions . . .
and make Emma fear for her life.
Heart to Heart (Lurlene McDaniel) by Lurlene McDaniel (Hardcover - June 8, 2010)

From Lurlene McDaniel, the bestselling author of young adult inspirational fiction, comes Heart to Heart.
This emotionally charged novel explores loss, love, renewal, and the ways in which these complex bonds
within families and between friends are tested at life's most challenging moments.
Elowyn Eden and Kassey Messechek are best friends. They share every aspect of their lives. But one thing
Elowyn has not yet shared with Kassey is that she checked the organ donor box on her newly acquired
driver's license. Kassey only learns of this in a startling and devastating way—when Elowyn's life-giving
donor wishes are about to be honored.
Arabeth St. Clair has not had the luck to have a best friend. Due to her diseased heart, she's led a
sheltered life. When Arabeth is sixteen, she and her mother receive the call that will change their
lives—but they don't know to whom they should be forever grateful.
When the worlds of these three girls and their families intersect, lives are changed in ways never
imagined. Most especially, it is Kassey who sees things differently, for she can keep alive the memory of
her dear friend by sharing the renewed life of another teenage girl, while helping to ease the pain of
the two families involved and coming to terms with her own.
My Ultimate Sister Disaster: A Novel by Jane Mendle (Paperback - June 8, 2010)

What happens when your sister becomes your biggest rival?
If there were a way to pick your family, fourteen-year old Franny might not pick her own. Her father is a

taller, is a precocious, prima ballerina. Lately, Zooey's so absorbed with her burgeoning ballet career
that she barely seems to notice Franny. And since Zooey attends a top ballet conservatory, Franny's on
her own navigating the brutal halls of her Manhattan prep school, a first-year trying to get noticed on
the school paper (and by its soulful, long-lashed editor-in-chief).
But everything changes when Zooey breaks her leg and her dancing comes to grinding halt. Her ballet
dreams shattered, Zooey begins to hone in on Franny's "normal" life and friends. Franny feels terrible
for Zooey, but when her encroachment starts to extend to Franny’s long-time crush, Franny begins to
wonder if her sister might just be her worst competition...

takes Tallulah under her wing and teaches her to surf. When an enticing phone call tempts Tallulah to
risk her new best friend's trust, Tallulah must prove once and for all that she's no poser; she's the

Pretty Little Liars #8: Wanted by Sara Shepard (Hardcover - June 8, 2010)

wrist. But not all that glitters is gold, and the town harbors secrets darker than anyone could

Back in middle school, Ali plucked Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer from obscurity and turned them into
the beautiful, popular girls everyone wanted to be. Ali was the best friend they ever had. But she also

them. Or so they think.
Not every story has a happy ending, especially when four pretty little liars have done so many wicked

Hanna, Aria, and Spencer could get everything they've ever wanted—unless A has one more horrifying twist
in store.

car accident, her drama friends decide to bring the project—a musical called Totally Sweet Ninja Death

usually so harmless, get her entangled with grieving Mr. McCabe and Zabet's emotionally unstable and
reckless best friend, Hadley Smith. Hadley is obsessed with finding Zabet's killer, and Evie lets herself
get dragged into her increasingly paranoid and dangerous investigation. This dark and suspenseful
coming-of-age story builds steadily to a violent climax. Evie is a skillful storyteller, perceptive and
thoughtful, with a dry sense of humor. She is especially sensitive to disingenuousness in others,
particularly in her mother, with whom she has an emotionally distant relationship. As a result, she
fixates on the only genuine person in her life: taciturn Jonah Luks, on whom she has an unrequited crush.
Evie adds beauty and excitement to the mundane with her fantasies, but only grows as a person when she
faces reality and reaches out to the people around her. Readers who have ever felt like they don't fit in
will find it easy to empathize with the teen's struggle to connect to others, and anyone can relate to
the disillusionment that comes with growing up.

Blood Feud (Drake Chronicles) by Alyxandra Harvey (Hardcover - June 22, 2010)

It's been centuries since Isabeau St. Croix barely survived the French Revolution. Now she's made her way
back to the living and she must face the ultimate test by confronting the evil British lord who left her
for dead the day she turned into a vampire. That's if she can control her affection for Logan Drake, a
vampire whose bite is as sweet as the revenge she seeks.
The clans are gathering for Helena's royal coronation as the next vampire queen, and new alliances are
beginning to form now that the old rifts of Lady Natasha's reign have started to heal. But with a new
common enemy, Leander Montmarte—a vicious leader who hopes to force Solange to marry him and usurp the
power of the throne for himself—the clans must stand together to preserve the peace he threatens to
destroy.
This second adventure in the Drake Chronicles—told from both Logan's and Isabeau's perspectives—has all
the same butt-kicking action, heart-pounding romances and snarky humor that readers loved in Hearts at
Stake, as well as exciting new revelations about the vampire dynasties to keep readers coming back for
more.

Flash by Michael Cadnum (Hardcover - June 22, 2010)

Cadnum’s latest is a tight tapestry of stories that exist separately until the inevitable collision. At
the center is Milton and his dropout brother Bruce, two shiftless teens whose botched bank robbery sets
up the swift drama that follows. As they sneak back home covered in green dye from the booby-trapped bank
bag, they are witnessed by Terrence, a nearly blind neighbor. Terrence’s girlfriend, Nina, gets wind of
all this and is disturbed, but she’s got other concerns—her brother Carraway, recuperating from wounds
suffered in Iraq, has suddenly returned home, possibly AWOL and with a newly unsettling manner. Plots
centering on guns—who has one, when might it go off—often have a one-note quality. Cadnum gets around
this by doling out character details via short digressions that often come much later than expected. This
gives the story an off-kilter unpredictability. Offering cool insight into the criminal mind-set, this is
a perfect choice to challenge reluctant readers.
Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams (Hardcover - June 22, 2010)

It’s the story of a girl whose older sister tries to kill herself. The main character wants to find out
why.
Good Behavior by Nate Henry and Nathan L. Henry (Hardcover - June 22, 2010)

Jailed at age sixteen for armed robbery, Nathan Henry was the kind of teenager most parents and teachers
have nightmares about. His crime was the culmination of a life lived on the edge: guns and drugs, sex and
violence, all set against the ordinary backdrop of a one-stop light town in rural Indiana. Nate's
personal history is both disturbing and fascinating. A rough childhood becomes an adolescence full of
half-realized violent fantasies that slowly build to the breaking point. But these scenes alternate with
chapters about Nate's time in jail, where through reading and reflection he comes to see that his life
can be different from all he's known up to this point.
Nathan's story of his year in jail and the life that led him there combine to create a powerful portrait
of an American youth gone bad?and a moving story of redemption.
Nomansland by Lesley Hauge (Hardcover - June 22, 2010)

Sometime in the future, after devastating wars and fires, a lonely, windswept island in the north is
populated solely by women. Among these women is a group of teenaged Trackers—expert equestrians and
archers—whose job is to protect their shores from the enemy. The enemy, they’ve been told, is men.
When these girls come upon a partially buried home from the distant past, they are fascinated by the
strange objects—high-heeled shoes, teen magazines, make-up—found there. What are they to make of these
mysterious things, which introduce a world they have never known? And what does it mean for their strict
society where friendship is forbidden and rules must be obeyed—at all costs?
Reminiscent of The Giver but with a feminist twist, Nomansland is a powerful, shocking story that will
challenge young readers’ perspectives and provoke much discussion over the timely and controversial
issues presented.
