the guy writing the script is the guy who wrote and directed Gattaca, which was a really good movie!

I wonder how they will do it though, it will be difficult having the two different people in the same body!! will they have voice overs for their thoughts??

That's what I'm worried about. Voice over will be entirely too cheesy (which is why I'm thankful they changed Edward's voice to hallucinations of him instead in New Moon). I think they'll have to cut down on the amount of Melanie-talk and just do a few good moments of both her voice coming through and the visions of moments in her life.

“I’m afraid of falling,” she said. “I have wings,” he whispered.

Perhaps they were right putting love into books. Perhaps it could not live anywhere else.

I'm excited. I always have high hopes though. They should always hire a group of extreme fans as consultants to make sure book movies turn out right.

^ I'm pretty sure they have Stephenie Meyer to help them.

^ Good point but since Stephenie Meyer wrote the book, I think she should be the one helping them.

I wasn't saying that film adaptions of movies are bad. idk, i have no expectations for this film. i did that with twilight and i refuse. if the movie turns out good that's awesome. i'm still going to see it. just how if and when meyer comes out with a sequel i'll read it.

i'm not going to get excited. i will be surprised pleasantly oooorrr not so pleasantly.

Stephenie had very little say of what happened with twilight. Yes summit did speak with her and she did visit the set a couple times but the final out come was out of her hands. Same with The Host, she signed the rights over. They can go to her for insight but she doesnt have final word when it comes to the out come.

^ Yeah, I know Stephenie doesn't have much say in it, but still..

It's good that they're at least coming to her for insight or whatever.

maybe they'll present her as having two personalities and she'll switch between them. Kind of like Tara in the United States of Tara, but less dramatic.

I wish there was a place we could leave questions about the film on Stephenie's website - this is one I'm very worried about.

^Oh, very interesting. Yeah that may work too, but they would have to make sure it doesn't come off too schizophrenic.

I think she should write the sequel to the book. My personal opinion is that The Host was a very good read but it had such an open ending. That story is just waiting to be finished.

i LOOOVE this book, its what got me into the love of reading. At first i was like write another write another.. but now i kinda dont want her to.. the book wass soooo good i really dont know if she can top it becasue we got to know the characters soo well. I agree about the ending but i kinda liked that about it keeps you wondering.. i hate books that squares every single thing away and leaves you nothing to leave thinking with.

I also can not wait for this movie.. i dont know how in the world they are gonna pull off the 2 in 1 person with Wanda and Melanie with out it being cheap or corney.. but i think this is a dead ringer for an awesome movvie.. Action, horror, romance.. and aliens!!!!

I'm not excited at all...why does Hollywood take my favorite books and turns them into movies?
They suck at it so why don't they leave my books alone!
This is ridiculous!

^^they should totally do that. be like oh hey fans you know since we're doing this for you give us some insight. but eh.

tbh, i am actually kinda excited about his movie because i liked the book, so i just don't want them to mess it up.

i am a firm believer in expect the worst, and hope for the best. that's just me. =]

I hope that the movie doesn't go through. I like having certain books just being my imagination. Too many books are becoming movies and they don't jive well with what everyone sees in their head.

I dunno if I can picture The Host as a movie. A majority of it is taken place in a cave and inside Wanda's and Melanie's head. I just can't see making a movie out of that unless they plan on adding a bunch of crap that wasn't there.

^^ yeah, I think like a lot of things, it could be really good or really bad!!... I want to see it either way though!!

I'm surprised that we haven't heard more about it yet... but maybe they are waiting for the whole twilight thing to finish before they start the host hype!

That's great for her that all her books are being turned into movies, at least I think so :)

I haven't read any of her works but congrats!

OMG!
I loved this book!
This would be fantastic as a movie!
As long as they keep some of the fighting scenes. Especially the one near the bath water lake thing! Hit him with a rock!!!

Once again, Hollywood has to take something else that was a decent book and adapt it to screen when it's not necessary.

When it works, brilliant. But I have a feeling that this will be a very, very difficult book to adapt to the screen. I wish they wouldn't even try.

I could imagine the aliens.
Those little balls of silvery light will be beautiful if they do it right!

I know its just rumored but he would be perfect for Ian. He kind looks like Damon from Vampire Diaries.
