She did get it first.

I remember looking at that question and answered in a decidedly round-about way - since it referred to YA vampire fiction traits, I tossed aside the ones that are across the board, the ones that define the subcategory of YA vampires as opposed to those of the classical mythoi (Dracula, Carmilla), more modern adult fiction (Vampire Chronicles, Southern Vampire Mysteries) and of course YA (Night World, Vampire Diaries, Morganville etc), and answered with traits relevant to the subset of YA. Had it read more as asking for "across the board" you'd have ended up with an essay. :P

And relevent answer: Sure, why not? (Sidenote: I have been spending far too much time at TVTropes - I refer to so many tropes nowadays, including that one)

But...aren't the Vampire Academy vampires not immortal?

Well, technically vampires aren't really immortal - they're undying (of "natural" causes), but they can be killed.

And it seems they were asking for the most common ones - not all vampires are affected by sunlight, or by religious artifacts (Christian or no), nor restricted by running water, nor have no reflections of their own, but those are still common traits.

Yeah, but Moroi are actually mortal. It's the Strigoi that are "undead". They can still be killed, like all vampires can, but they are not technically living.
The Moroi are alive.

I wasn't talking about the Moroi in particular, I was talking about vampires, and the general idea of them. :P But then again, can you call a being a vampire if it does not have the main traits? Sekhmet may be both immortal and a blood-drinker, but she's not a vampire.

Actually, let's stop before this gets waaaaay off-topic.

I don't know about all that lol, I was just going by what the books themselves call vampires.
And since this quiz referenced VA a few times, I was thinking about the Moroi being mortal when I was trying to figure out number 7.

Well strigoi are pretty much immortal (or undead, depending on what you wnat to say) but I didn't want to make that distinction in the question because it would have given it away.

Oh, Morganville!
This is probably a sign that I should get around to reading that series. I own the first three and they've just been sitting on my shelf for a while...
