Mood: Books, books and more books!

I read the book just a few hours before watching the movie too. I thought the movie did the boks justice, It was a good movie. The issue is the books were just SO good that the movie, in my opinion, can't compare. It seemed to miss a bunch of parts. They just couldn't fit everything in though. I definitely didn't hate the movie. I thought it was a great movie. The movie just isn't near how good as the book is. Not their fault though.

I've read the series, which were a good read - at least the first two books were, for me. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm looking forward to it, as I hear it's quite good, plus I have yet to hear any complaints.

Movies never seem to live up to the books. The only movie that was as good as the book for me was The Green Mile by Stephen King. That was a great representation to a brilliant book.

I've heard some complaints...but mainly from ppl who have the books memorized or just read them. Its silly for ppl to go into a movie expecting it to be just like the book. That's never going to happen. I loved it(:

I watched it again on Friday this time with my sister (who's never read the books)

She liked it and understood it just fine. There were a few minor details that she didn't get and I had to explain to her but overall, she understood the most important parts. This really shows how well they did with adapting the book. People that haven't read the books and can understand/like the movie just fine is a really good sign. I always felt like even though the HP movies were good, everything wasn't really explained that well so people who haven't read the books would be totally lost. For THG though they did a good job explaining the major things in the story like the sponsors and all. I just can't emphasize enough how happy I am with how this movie turned out.

Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Katniss is still flawless even in the second viewing of the movie.

I'm glad that she understood it! I know people who haven't read the books, but they haven't went and watched the movie to my knowledge. I don't hang out with too many people who don't read now that I think about it. I thought that the movie made perfect sense (except for the bread scenes), but, then again, I've read the books.

Now I just need Finnick to be cast! He was the best part about the WHOLE trilogy!

^ Agreed. Crossing my fingers they get someone good.
Someone who is hot and can act.

^ Ugh, me neither. That would be a disaster.

And I reallyyyy hope they don't cast someone already well known.

I don't think I'd be too annoyed if it was someone well known, as long as I knew that they could act well. But Finnick is going to be a hard role to cast, and I agree that an unknown would be better. I wonder when they're going to start casting!

i loved Finnick and was sad how in the last book at the end, after everything, he was hardly mentioned at all.
the movie was amazing! i liked how the reaping was done and the capitol and everyone acted so well! I hate seeing bad adaptations from books to movies but sometimes when i can't imagine something that well the movie helps and this showed everything so well!
i agree about the part where Peeta threw the bread though, if i didn't read the book i wouldn't have got why Katniss was sitting in the rain. Anyway i really want to see it again! I love Peeta, he's so sweet i feel bad for him at the end how he's so clueless about everything, Katniss acting and all.

I loved the reaping as well. I was really impressed with Prim and Gale during that part.

the uprising in district 11 wasn't supposed to be in this part, but it was effective in showing the whole situation. Senaca Crane's beard was awesome!

Yeah, when they were touring around the districts. I think that they put it in this 1 because it sort of explained why snow was angry enough to kill the gamemaker because of letting 2 people win. Like that's what they started -uprisings- and so we know that they're really in trouble. Poor Peeta he doesn't even know

I saw this movie opening night, and I absolutely loved it! I thought Jennifer Lawerence did an AMAZING job as Katniss. She was perfect. You could see the emotion play perfectly on her features. She was Katniss for me. I thought they did an amazing job of explaining the major things. I went with my husband, who hasn't read the books and he understood it fairly well. I had to explain a couple things. He thought that the whole 3 books were just the 1 Games. Ha! I then had to explain the rest of the series to him. Overall though, I really loved it. It definitely captured the essence of the book. I would definitely go watch it again in theaters. LOVED IT!!!! :)

for me everything else was perfect (although the bread probably needed more explanation) except for Katniss and Peeta's fire outfits. They were supposed to be amazing but i thought that they were kind of lame actually. I think it would have been cooler if it looked like their whole suits were on fire

Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee! I wonder if he'll accept...?
