Here is the poll for March!
Looking for Alaska by John Green
Miles "Pudge" Halter is abandoning his safe-okay, boring -life. Fascinated by the last words of famous people, Pudge leaves for boarding school to
seek what a dying Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Pudge becomes encircled by friends whose lives are everything but safe and boring. Their
nucleus is razor-sharp, sexy, and self-destructive Alaska, who has perfected the arts of pranking and evading school rules. Pudge falls impossibly in
love. When tragedy strikes the close-knit group, it is only in coming face-to-face with death that Pudge discovers the value of living and loving
unconditionally. John Green's stunning debut marks the arrival of a stand-out new voice in young adult fiction.
Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler
"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"
According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in ZanzibarBay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy ever day,
there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told
Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.
Beautifully written and emotionally honest, this is a debut novel that explores what it truly means to love someone and what it means to grieve, and
ultimately, how to make the most of every single moment this world has to offer.
Feed by M.T. Anderson
"We went to the moon to have fun, but the moon turned out to completely suck."
So states Titus, whose ability to read, write, and even think for himself has been completely obliterated by his "feed, " a transmitter implanted
directly into his brain. Feeds are a crucial part of life for Titus and his friends. After all, how else would they know where to party on the moon,
how to get bargains at Weatherbee & Crotch, or how to accessorize the mysterious lesions everyone's been getting? But then Titus meets Violet, a
girl who cares about what's happening in the world and challenges everything Titus and his friends hold dear. A girl who decides to fight the feed.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological monsters and the gods
of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of
them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect.
Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus. But to succeed on
his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the
Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.
Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert
Kara hasn't been back to Oak Park since the end of junior year, when a heroin overdose nearly killed her and sirens heralded her exit. Four years
later, she returns to face the music. Her life changed forever back in high school: her family disintegrated, she ran around with a whole new crowd of
friends, she partied a little too hard, and she fell in love with gorgeous bad-boy Adrian, who left her to die that day in Scoville Park....
Amid the music, the booze, the drugs, and the drama, her friends filled a notebook with heartbreakingly honest confessions of the moments that defined
and shattered their young lives. Now, finally, Kara is ready to write her own.
Blue Bloods (Blue Bloods 1) by Melissa De La Cruz
De la Cruz combines American history, vampires and a crew of rich New York City kids, delivering a page-turning debut to her new series, sure to
appeal to fans of her Au Pairs titles. When 15-year-olds Schuyler and Bliss find out that they are vampires, as are many of the city's elite, they
learn what's behind some of their weird symptoms (such as Schuyler's blue veins, which form "an intricate pattern, visible under the skin's surface,"
or Bliss's cravings for raw meat), and that "nothing could kill vampires." But something is hunting them, even killing some, and Schuyler grows more
determined to stop it, even as the Conclave, the vampire leaders, attempts to cover it up. Readers will recognize the character types here: Schuyler
the outcast, Bliss the pretty new girl and Mimi the popular queen bee (who nurses a somewhat incestuous relationship with her equally gorgeous
brother). Not many question are answered along the way, even for the start of a series. Still, it's hard to resist a book that combines expensive
clothes, modeling jobs, blood-sucking and even diary entries from a Mayflower vampire. De la Cruz plants enough seeds (e.g., What does it mean that
Schuyler's father is human? Will her mother come out of her coma? Who are the Silver Bloods, and is one of them hiding amongst the vampires?) to give
readers a stake in what happens next.
Girl in the Arena by Lise Haines
Lyn is a neo-gladiator’s daughter, through and through. Her mother has made a career out of marrying into the high-profile world of televised blood
sport, and the rules of the Gladiator Sports Association are second nature to their family. Always lend ineffable confidence to the gladiator.
Remind him constantly of his victories. And most importantly: Never leave the stadium when your father is dying. The rules help the family survive,
but rules—and the GSA—can also turn against you. When a gifted young fighter kills Lyn’s seventh father, he also captures Lyn’s dowry bracelet, which
means she must marry him... For fans of The Hunger Games and Fight Club, Lise Haines’ debut novel is a mesmerizing look at a world addicted to
violence—a modern world that’s disturbingly easy to imagine.
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Seventeen-year-old Cassandra Mortmain wants to become a writer. Trouble is, she's the daughter of a once-famous author with a severe case of writer's
block. Her family--beautiful sister Rose, brooding father James, ethereal stepmother Topaz--is barely scraping by in a crumbling English castle they
leased when times were good. Now there's very little furniture, hardly any food, and just a few pages of notebook paper left to write on. Bravely
making the best of things, Cassandra gets hold of a journal and begins her literary apprenticeship by refusing to face the facts. She writes, "I have
just remarked to Rose that our situation is really rather romantic, two girls in this strange and lonely house. She replied that she saw nothing
romantic about being shut up in a crumbling ruin surrounded by a sea of mud."
Rose longs for suitors and new tea dresses while Cassandra scorns romance: "I know all about the facts of life. And I don't think much of them." But
romantic isolation comes to an end both for the family and for Cassandra's heart when the wealthy, adventurous Cotton family takes over the nearby
estate. Cassandra is a witty, pensive, observant heroine, just the right voice for chronicling the perilous cusp of adulthood.
Goddess of The Night (Daughters of the Moon Book 1) by Lynne Ewing
Vanessa, who has always had the special power to become invisible, discovers that she and her best friend Catty, a time-traveler, are goddesses of the
moon who must fight together to overcome the evil Atrox.

Well .. I was torn between Twenty Boy summer and Blue Bloods .. Both are my TBR list ..
But I picked Blue Bloods.. I think I always wanted to read it and now I would have more motivation to go for it..
Quote:
Blue Bloods is pretty awesome. It gets better through the series though.
Hmmm..voted for Looking For Alaska.
TBS<3
more votes please
Hopefully girl in the arena is picked this time.

Ah, I still don't know what to choose...
Percy Jackson, only because I'm a little ehh about seeing the movie,I wanted to read this before watching the movie, and this way if I read it while
everyone is, I can discuss it with you guys.
Maybe the book will convince me to see the movie.
Quote:
Me either! But maybe the book might be better than the movie, If I don't like it oh well.
These kinds of stories , aren't at the top of my list though.
So currently tied between Percy Jackson and Looking for Alaska.
How easy is Looking for Alaska to find in Australia? I have a copy of Percy Jackson on the way, just wondering how easy the other one will be to find
if I win.
Not very hard .. I found in a bookstore today actually .. So it shouldnt be hard..
Awesome. I have a Borders book voucher, so I might actually participate in the bookclub this month.
Well .. I am going to try because I am out of money .. unless the library has it wich I really doubt it will .. I might not be able to (which really I am not too happy about!)
percy's getting up there!
gah.
I wish I could take back my vote for blue bloods and put it theree.
I can't believe March is almost here..
I hope I can actually read this Bookclub pick! For all the other months, I couldn't find the books
Well, I hope John Green wins cuz i'm really not interested in reading Percy Jackson!
LOL
I know Jen is reading it. Is it really that good?
umm.... its a quick read... not oh my god amazing or anything like that... I think its good... does that make sense? I mean its at the younger end of YA...
So its more like Tween?

Actually Niza, it's your choice. Just cuz we run the ship doesn't mean we're going to over rule the majority decision!
lol
If you guys want Percy Jackson, you'll get your Percy Jackson.
one day I'm going to have to pair up with mark and go for girl in the arena.
I don't think it's gonna make it this time
There is still time Nichole. In fact, I might post something tomorrow about it on the front page to encourage people to vote.
I should probably do that every month.
Quote:
Don't vote? Yeah, for the amount of members we have, we have surprisingly few voters each month.
it drives me insane!
insane I tell you.
I'm going to go make a taco
I'll be back!
I had a burrito for lunch. Since moving to this country I've become obsessed with home made mexican food (because I'm also obsessed with turning into an oompaloompa, food here is SO bad for you, so I make it all at home).
there's lots of healthy mexican food out there lol!
Especially if you make them yourself. I find that the take out food selection here in America is looooooaaaaadded with fat and sugar.
ah! I forgot to ask you!
how do you like it in............near tacoma?!
hahahahah I live in Gig Harbor. Tacoma is the closest city but there is a big body of water between us and it.
Tacoma is horrible.
H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E
it's so weird having one of you so close to me.
weird.!
I'm terrified to go to tacoma.
I wasn't kidding.
It's a pretty horrendous city. Apart from the fact that its ugly, it has HUGE a really awful crime rate.
Gig Harbor is nothing like that at all. Its beautiful, pictueresque and safe as houses.

so does it kinda start out like harry potter?
without being as amazing?
because they started out really young.
harry potter started the same age... Its greek based...
Lots of similarities have been drawn between HP and Percy Jackson. I'm reading it just to see what it is like. I might continue with it, I might not.
Quote:

So so close. Two tied, one one vote behind, and two others only two votes behind...
I've scheduled a post to appear on the main page for tomorrow. That might help.
Awesome. It will be good to get more people to participate.
Quote:
That would be great Nikki!
I voted for Blue Bloods. Mainly because I own a copy.
Looking for Alaska! Looking for Alaska!

The post will appear at midnight tonight on the main page. I think I need to get into a habit of doing this every month.
Hopefully it will being some more readers.
Steph, also, when you send out the newsletter, you can send it to their email accounts so that those who havent been back to the site in a while might
think about coming back to vote.
Got it.
Looking for Alaska
Wow, this is close. I posted something on the main page. I still think we should give it another day or two - what do you think Steph?

I feel like I'm rallying for votes.
Lol, we all are.
These votes are so close this bookclub!
Looking for Alaska is winning so far. I'll be calling the poll shortly...
It's tied Steph!
Percy Jackson is tied with Alaska now....
Man...
I'm glad Ive read both books and own them... It saves me... :D
And Blue Bloods is only one behind...
Steph, Just so you know, O'm going to post one more reminder on the main page. Unless we get a totally clear winner in the next few hours, don't call
anything just yet!
How exciting!
Who is going to have the deciding vote.
I hope its percy jackson only because it is in my libary so I can get involved this time
The deciding vote will be you guys. If, by tomorrow, we don't have a clear winner, we'll do a tie breaker and everyone will have to vote again, but this time the only selections will be Percy Jackson and Looking for Alaska
a tie!
It's really close this time.
I need a couple more for blue bloods or for percy [=
I need to go see what the hold for looking for alaska is on my library site.
Vote for percy guys it is in my libary so i can get it lol.
Wow! There hasn't been a tie in a while! We need to break the tie people!

PERCY PERCY PERCY
ugh.
I'm ready for a tie breaker nowwww.
Who hasnt voted.
Dunno. A fair few of us have. We'll just have to wait for the tie breaker...
Oh wow.
Tonight guys. I've just posted something on the main page again.
IF we don't have anything tonight then we can draw up a tie breaker.
TONIGHT!
haha that's so long!
who hasnt voted?
Wow the suspense
We need a brave challenger to accept the task of chosing a book.
Who accepts the challenge lol.
haha I've been promoting it on like my myspace and myyearbook telling people to come join and make sure they vote.
but I haven't been on those sites in forever so I don't even know if people are listening.
Quote:

Dang it.
I was hoping for LFA to be ahead, lol.
Me too Strig.
Me three.
*sigh* WHYY?
Ahhh so Percy won. Hmm. I'm getting a copy of this from Penguin soon so I will actually be able to participate this time.
