Book Review: Wild Invitation (Psy-Changeling 0.5, 3.5, 9.5, 10.5) by Nalini Singh

Wild InvitationIn Beat of Temptation , innocent Tamsyn has always had a place in her heart for Nathan, a blooded DarkRiver sentinel. But is she ready for the fierce demands of the mating bond?

In Stroke of Enticement , a wary young teacher, skeptical about love, arouses the man—and the animal—in an aggressive leopard changeling who must prove his affections are true.

In Declaration of Courtship , Grace, a shy submissive wolf, finds herself pursued by the last man she ever would have imagined: a SnowDancer lieutenant said to be “mad, bad, and dangerous to know.”

In Texture of Intimacy , SnowDancer healer Lara discovers the searing joys—and unexpected challenges—of being mated to quiet, powerful Walker, a man used to keeping his silence.

My Review:

I loved having the opportunity to read different stories from the Psy-Changeling series! Let’s start out with Tamsyn and Nate’s story. LOVED IT! Okay, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t get a full length novel, because this would have made a REALLY good longer story. The chemistry between Tamsyn and Nate was off the charts and they were beautiful together. There was actual quite a bit that I didn’t know about them that I learned in this story. My only complaint is that there could have been some more details in the sexy scenes. I felt like there was a huge build up to them, and then those scenes aren’t event acknowledged and just end the chapter. I know that Singh knows how to write those sexy scenes (as seen in Hawke and Sienna’s book) so where were they?

Moving on to Annie and Zach’s story…WOW. I actually don’t remember either of these characters. I do wish that both of them had been a little more acknowledged in the actual full length novels in this series. It’s kind of annoying when she throws in characters who maybe make a one second appearance, because then I don’t have an attachment to them already…which really make the books in this series. I did really love Annie and Zach, though. I also adored the diversity that she included in this series. Again, I thought it really lacked on the sexy times, scenes, though.

Grace and Cooper’s story tied for my second favorite in this series. I actually remember them (I think, from Indigo’s story.) I remember really loving the idea of Cooper falling in love and chasing a submissive female, and I was not disappointed. They were super sweet together! Also, the sexy time scenes were a LITTLE bit better in this novella! I loved this one!

As for Lara and Walker, I’m still not a fan of either one of them. I ended up pretty much skimming through their story, because I didn’t like. Really nothing personal about the story itself, I just don’t like these two characters.

Overall, I was a fan of this book. It could have scored a 4 or a 5 star from me if there had been more depth in some of the stories and at least a little more focus on the sexy time scenes. I also thought that at least three of these stories could have been full length novels, and was left lacking at how much had to be left out of these short stories.
