rykerThe rugged men of the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team are winning hearts once again in another scorching novel from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett.

The stakes have never been higher for Carolina Cold Fury goalie Ryker Evans. With his contract running out, he’s got a year left to prove he’s still at the top of his game. And since his wife left him, Ryker has been balancing life as a pro-hockey star and a single parent to two daughters. Management is waiting for him to screw up. The fans are ready to pounce. Everybody’s taking dirty shots—except for the fiery redhead whose faith in Ryker gives him a fresh start.

As the league’s only female general manager, Gray Brannon has learned not to mix business with pleasure. And yet even this tough, talented career woman can’t help breaking her own rules as she gives Ryker everything she’s got. She hopes their hot streak will last forever, but with Ryker’s conniving ex plotting to reclaim her man, the pressure’s on Gray to step up and save a tender new love before it’s too late.

My Review:

Can I just start out by saying that Sawyer Bennett is my new author crush? Seriously! Sometimes, it can be so difficult to find a new author that you absolutely adore; who writes flawlessly, beautifully, and magnetically addictive. Whenever I start one of her books, I devour it, hardly lifting my eyes for a break. That’s exactly how I was when reading Ryker. I mean, for real, I skipped most of this week’s NASCAR to finish it. If you know me, you know my love of sports. That’s a big freaking deal. DUDE I WAS EVEN READING THIS DURING THE DRAFT! (Okay, not the first round of the draft. BUT MOST OF 3-7!)

I love that I’m reading this series out of order because that it so typically me. I don’t care, though. Sure, I’m missing SOME THINGS…well, not missing, but reading details out of order. BUT I DON’T CARE! I’m reading this in whatever order I darn well please! And I’m not disappointed because OMG RYKER. Holy smoking hotness. RYKER! Need I say more.

And Let’s not just discuss Ryker, because Gray was equally amazing. Sometimes, I find myself having a difficult time with the female leads in NA books, because I can’t stand them. That wasn’t the case with Gray. I LOVED HER. She was such a badass. I only wish that I can grow some lady balls like Gray.

While this book features a huge insta-love theme, I didn’t care. That says a lot, because I normally can’t stand insta-love. I thought that Ryker and Gray were the PERFECT COUPLE.

Even though I loved this book, there were a few moments that I would have changed up a bit. 1) Even though there were a TON of sexy scenes (and I’m not complaining!) I would have liked to see a bit more “fun” in those scenes. I loved that sex didn’t foster their relationship, but I wanted to see some down and dirty scenes. And there WERE some. But I wanted a little bit more. 2) I would have liked to see more of a relationship between Gray and Ryker’s girls’. We only got to see her interact with them ONE time. That wasn’t good enough for me. 3) Finally, I felt that we were missing the final showdown with Ryker’s ex-wife. After the meeting with Gray, I felt that we should have heard from her one more time. It was really disappointing and confusing that we didn’t.

Overall, I absolutely adored this book. I 100% recommend it to every single reader out there. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. I can’t wait to read every single one of Bennett’s books!
