LACY YAGER is a pseudonym for Lacy Williams, who also writes Inspirational romance under that name. As the oldest of three siblings, Lacy exhibits most of the typical first-child characteristics and has always loved to boss around her younger siblings. Now that she’s married with two kids and three dogs, she has plenty of people to play house with!
During high school, Lacy completed the course WRITING FOR CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS from the Institute of Children’s Literature. After she graduated college, Lacy got serious about her writing career and joined the American Christian Fiction Writers. When presented with the opportunity to write mainstream YA with her younger sister, Lacy couldn’t say no.
Can you tell us about your book, Shadow Allegiance, in 15 words or less?
A vampire Chaser wakes up to find she is now one of “them” – her own enemy.
What genre is Shadow Allegiance?
I’m calling it action romance. There is a lot of sword fighting. 🙂
What was your favorite scene to write?
Always always always the first kiss scene. A close second is the scene where they make their romantic declarations – in the middle of fighting for their lives!
What was the hardest scene to edit out?
A scene that showed Rachel (heroine) having a vulnerable moment. Beneath her layers, she is vulnerable, but she’s not really the type to show it. I had to scrap that scene and start over–and show her outer toughness with a little inner hurt.
What is one of your favorite quotes from Shadow Allegiance?
(From the hero’s point-of-view)
I laugh in sheer joy and terror as it hits me—I’m bringing apology weapons to my girl, instead of a bouquet of flowers or some other rubbish.
Is Shadow Allegiance a standalone or a series?
Book two in the Unholy Alliance series, but it can stand alone. There is also a related novella, Rival, free on all major e-retailers right now.
Are you currently working on anything else?
The next book, Beloved Enemy. It’s about the most unlikely vampire slayer – a teen scientist! – and the vampire she falls for. Yep. Vampire.
If you could cast anyone to play any of the characters who would you choose?
Probably Alex Pettyfer as Shane (hero from Unholy Alliance). Ever since Beastly the movie I have been a fan and I think he could pull off the angsty hero my sister created. 🙂
Did any music inspire you while writing Shadow Allegiance?
I love listening to music while I write–unfortunately lately it has all been theme songs to Disney channel shows. I have three small children (all 4 and under) so there is a lot of “kid stuff” in the background while I’m writing!
What is the best book you’ve read recently?
Take a Chance on Me by Susan May Warren. Great adult romance.
What is currently in your TBR pile?
Divergent is on top. My sister tells me I need to read it but I haven’t had time (see above, re: three kids!)
Thanks for stopping by, Lucy! I can never get enough of vampires! And holy smokes, woman….go read Divergent!!!!
