Ohhh la la! This book was HOT! I’ve kind of broken it up into sections; Loved, annoyed, liked, predictable, loved, predictable again, HOT.
Loved: When the book first started, I absolutely ADORED it! I loved the characters. I LOVED the whole idea of the main character dancing in a gentlemen’s club and expressing herself with her body. It was a hot, sexy plot that I was instantly drawn to. I was instantly hooked. This is one of those books that had me staying up till almost two in the morning because I couldn’t put it down.
Annoyed: Now…maybe this was because I didn’t read the synopsis when I started reading it, but the book reached a point where I had no idea what was going on. I really wasn’t the biggest fan of Harrison Yates. I was finding him whiney and pathetic….and slightly creepy. Thankfully this annoying period didn’t last very long. It did end up getting to the point relevantly fast. However, those 30-45 pages where a bit too much for me.
Liked: Once I made it through that really annoying stage things started to get AWESOME! I wasn’t in love, yet, because I was still recovering a little bit from that horrible part of the book, but I was intrigued again. I loved what was being done with the characters. It started to get sexy again. This was the part of the book where I pretty much had a gigantic smile plastered on my face.
Predictable: Even though I really liked the book, I did end up rolling my eyes quite a bit over how predictable and cliché it was. It wasn’t a plot that I hadn’t read about before; I also thought that some of characters (especially the main character!) could have been stronger. I would have liked to see something a little more original or a twist that made me go WOAH. Nothing like that happened. Once I got into the story, I knew how it was going to end and everything that was going to happen in it. It’s a great smut book. Definitely something a little more naughty for the older crowd. For the most part, though, it was pretty much your standard adult mystery/romance novel.
Loved: Even though it was predictable, I was IN LOVE with the main male character. Talk about a hottie! I could have just read about him, and HE was what brought me back into loving this book.
Predictable Again: Enough said. I may have loved it…but every once in awhile I would be like “SERIOUSLY?”
Hot: I may have had to wait awhile for the characters to actually get their freak on, but holy wow! I was a little disappointed that I had to wait SO long and that it only happened about once…and a half? I wanted a little more freakiness involved. I mean…the title calls for some freakiness! Overall, though, I thought the suspense throughout most of the entire book made up for the hotness.
Overall, I REALLY enjoyed this book! I will definitely be reading more from Lisa Desrochers, and I HIGHLY recommend this book!
