Hi everyone!

The Top Ten of 2013 is hosted by Rachel over at Fiktshun. From December 23rd to December 27th we will be hosting Top Ten Choices from 2013. You can find the schedule below. Feel free to join in on this event at any time! And make sure to link me to your own posts so I can stop by and leave a comment!

The Schedule:

Monday, December 23rd – Best Books I’ve Read in 2013 (Doesn’t have to be released in 2013, just a book you’ve read in 2013)

Tuesday, December 24th – Best Book Covers of 2013 (MUST be a book released in 2013. Would be best if it’s a book you’ve READ in 2013, but it’s not required)

Wednesday, December 25th – Best ________ of 2013 (Reader’s/Blogger’s choice. Please fill in the blank with ONE of these topics – Villains, Contemporaries, Dual POVs, Novellas, Adult titles, New Adult titles, Love Triangles, Couples, Bad Boys or Debuts. REMEMBER: this list MUST be from books you’ve READ in 2013)

Thursday, December 26th – Best Book Boyfriends of 2013 (MUST be from a book released in 2013 and from a book you’ve READ in 2013)

Friday, December 27th – Top 10 Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2014 (This list should be comprised ONLY of books released in 2014)

Now to start on todays topic!

Best Books I’ve Read in 2013

94096141 The Enchanter Heir by Cinda Williams Chima

Cinda Williams Chima is amazeballs. I avoided reading this for so long, because I didn’t want it to be over. I knew that it was going to be amazing. I loved it. I don’t know how to do anything but gush. I cannot wait till book 2.

171671662 Crown of Midnight by Sarah J Maas

You know…I felt kind of late to the party with this series. I just read the first two books toward the end of this year. I don’t know what the heck was wrong with me. This series is amazing. If you’re into high fantasy, assassins, and a heavy romance…this book is for you.

5 stars

172801223 Burn Bright by Bethany Frenette

You know…it actually really frustrates me that this series doesn’t get the attention that it deserves. This is one of my all time favorite series. No joke. I harass Bethany every single time that another book comes out to feature it as our Book of the Month. I love that it’s about superheroes. I just…I love this series. It is amazing!

157932314 If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch

One word: tissues. Make sure you have them. I don’t cry over books or movies…but I BAWLED during this book. It was utterly heartbreaking. I can’t even express into words how good this one was.

159895985 The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan

SQUEEEE! I read this book on a whim..JUST because I loved the cover. I’m sitting here trying to decide what to type and my mouth keeps flopping open and closed like a fish. I don’t even have words. You all need to go read this one!

171490886 Secret by Brigid Kemmerer

Nick finally got a story! Brigid Kemmerer is one of my favorite authors. I’ve been following this series since it came out. This is also an LGBTQ book (my review will appear in January), which I loved! How awesome is that? I adored Nick and Adam. I thought they were one of the cutest couples this year.

5 stars

161011287 The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave was exhausting but exhilarating. It’s a really intense dystopia book, but it’s crazy good. I can’t even imagine living in a world like that. I think I sucked it down in less than 24 hours.

5 stars.

Kami Garcia/Unbreakable8 Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

You know…I still don’t understand the cover to this book. It doesn’t make sense to me at all. This is probably the spookiest book I’ve read all year. It was SO GOOD. I feel like I keep repeating myself lol. I want to see this one turned into a movie. (and, yes, it is from one of the authors of Beautiful Creatures.)

5 stars

134115469 Prep School Confidential by Kara Taylor

I originally didn’t want to read this one. I admit it. It looked stupid to me. I thought it was going to be a Gossip Girl/Pretty Little Liars/90210 spin off, and I was not interested. I was so wrong. This was right up my alley. I was hooked from the get go. Yes, it’s contemporary, but it almost has a paranormal feel to it. It’s GOOD!

1057636510 The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

Ok…I HATED the first 100 pages of this book. I almost didn’t finish it. I’m glad people told me to keep reading it because that’s how it made it on this list. I still need to read the second book. I’m being very hesitant, because I know that I’ll have to wait forever for the 3rd book. I LOVED it!

That was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I had so many books that I wanted to put on this list. I could only put ten, though ]= But this is my Top Ten list of the year. Make sure you come back on the 31st for the end of the year giveaway. All of these books will be up for grabs. 3 lucky winners will be able to choose one book off of this list. We’ll be pulling the winners in January. So make sure you come back for that!

What’s on your list? Link me to your blog post or let me know in the comments section below! And make sure to let me know what you think of my list. Do you agree/disagree? Are there any books on here that you haven’t read yet? Let me know!

  • If I had a Top Ten list the 5th Wave would be on it! :-) I want to try Cinda Williams Chima’s books in 2014 because I have heard so many amazing things about them. And If You Find Me has been on my TBR list forever but I hate crying over a book or movie so I keep putting it off…
